vfg Young Talent Award in Photography
23.10.2021-07.11.2021
Since 25 years the place for young Swiss photography
The Association of Photographic Designers has been awarding the vfg Young Talent Prize for Photography since 1995. The annual competition for young photographers in Switzerland is the much-acclaimed platform for as yet undiscovered talents. Among the winners of the past years, for example, there are some now well-known photographers and artists.
A jury of renowned experts selects ten works from all entries, which are presented in exhibitions, in the coveted catalogue and on this website. The jury also awards the main prize for the best work, donated by Keystone-SDA and endowed with CHF 5,000, and attractive material prizes for second and third place.
The Swiss photo agency Keystone-SDA is a long-standing partner and with its commitment, as are all its patrons and sponsors, it is sending a strong signal for young Swiss photography.
The pool of creativity that has grown continuously over the years of its existence stimulates the debate on photography throughout Switzerland and beyond language borders. Thus the vfg Young Talent Promotion Prize for Photography is a springboard for exceptionally talented young photographers and at the same time a representative mirror of young Swiss photography.

THE ORGANIZERS BEHIND IT
The working group vfg Nachwuchsförderpreis für Fotografie is a small group of photographers, curators and cultural managers who are interested in photography and who work with passion on this project on a voluntary basis all year round. The main motivation is the promotion of contemporary young photography and the direct contact to the young photo artists in all the different phases of the competition and all the exhibitions at home and abroad.

WORK IN PROGRESS
23.10. - 07.11.2021
The exhibition "work in progress" will be shown together with the Young Talent Award exhibition.
pool
The pool is a group of young, motivated, creative people working in the field of photography and image design. Their aim in these fast-moving times is to emphasise the value of photography and to encourage exchange among themselves. The group organises workshops and activities that support young photographers in their work. The pool is supported by the professional associations vfg (Association of Photographic Designers) and SBF (Swiss Professional Photographers and Film Designers).
work in progress
The pool, a group of young photographers, shows nine photographic works in progress. At the Haus der Fotografie Olten, visitors will be given an exclusive insight into this personal and usually hidden process in a multimedia and interactive way. This ranges from the development of a question, the research, artistic experiments, technical questions to the decision-making process in the image selection. With the different themes and approaches, the pool shows the diversity of the photographic working process.
Curator Anna Konstantinova
The curator Anna Konstantinova has accompanied the pool through the process of preparing the exhibition. Her focus is on contemporary photography, post-photography, curating digital spaces and transforming art into digital formats. She has supported the post photography project "SITUATIONS" at Fotomuseum Winterthur and is part of the team of Screen Walks, a joint project of The Photographers' Gallery, London and Fotomuseum Winterthur. In 2021 she completed a Postgraduate Program in Curatorial Studies at ZHdK.
