Magdalena Herrera is a French citizen born in Havana, Cuba. Based in Paris, she works as Director of Photography at GEO Magazine, France since 2009.
She has been Art Director and Head of Photography at National Geographic, France, since the launch of the French edition in 1999.
Herrera studied art history and aesthetics, earning an honors degree at the Sorbonne before starting her career as a photographer and graphic designer.
She acts as a tutor and supervisor at international photographic seminars organized by World Press Photo Foundation.
Jury member of several international contests (World Press Photo, Prix AFJ-Canon de la femme photographe, Visa Pour l’image, POY Latam, WPY...)
Tutor at Noordelicht Masterclass in Groningen, Netherlands.
She teaches photojournalism at Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi.
