“ONE'S VISUAL LANGUAGE IS NOT SOMETHING THAT MANIFESTS OVERNIGHT. IT DEVELOPS ORGANICALLY OVER A LIFETIME. THE SHIFTS CAN BE SO SUBTLE AS TO BE VIRTUALLY IMPERCEPTIBLE AND, AT TIMES, WANT TO COME TO FRUITION SO RAPIDLY, AND WITH SEARCH FORCE THAT THE PROFUNDITY IS ALL-CONSUMING. THAT IS LIFE'S WORKS."
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
After the successful first edition of the International Photo Festival Olten (IPFO) in 2017, the second festival will be held in Olten from 28th August to 1st September 2019. The 3-day event in 2017 was launched by Swiss photographer Marco Grob, Paul Merki, formerly Light + Byte, creative director Charles Blunier and photographer Remo Buess. They have all been working together for more than 25 years and have already realized numerous exciting projects. The IPFO team of the now 5-day festival in 2019 is Remo Buess, Marco Grob, Linda Flury, Paul Merki and Christoph Zehnder.
The emotional core of the last festival will be maintained. The festival aims to give the audience unique insights into the creation of the internationally active crème de la crème of photography culture. One should experience first-hand what moves, inspires and drives the photographers. Thus, not only do pictures tell stories - but visitors get the opportunity to experience the whole story behind directly and personally from the photographer.
The program is again high-profile. All keynote speakers have an international reputation and work for world-renowned clients and publishers. You're only on stage if you have world format and at the same time can touch the guests emotionally.
In addition to the lectures, workshops, seminars and portfolio reviews will be held. The latter is mainly intended to allow young up-and-coming photographers to discuss the work with the best in their field. Unique exhibitions complement the program of this year’s IPFO 2019 - read more soon ...
